Detoxification is the process in which your body gets rid of waste and toxins. Toxins are found in our Food, Air, Water, Personal care products and internal metabolic waste
In order to make sure we donâ€™t become overloaded with toxins we must help our bodies detox efficiently. The body detoxes through the skin, bowels, kidneys, lungs and the liver is the main detoxifier.
Things You can Do to Help Your Body Detoxify
For Bowel function: 2 tbsp. ground flaxseed/day to add fiber to your diet and be sure to drink up to 2 Liters of water a day
For Liver Support- Drink Milk Thistle, dandelion root or green tea throughout the day. These herbs help liver function. Taking a B-complex and extra antioxidants like Vitamin C will benefit liver health.
Diet: avoid caffeine, alcohol, red meat , dairy and gluten, soy, corn as much as possible 4-8 weeks. This gives your digestion and immune system a break.
Consume cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cabbage. These vegetables contain sulphur needed for liver function. Include onions, garlic, greens, and lots of berries as well.
Â½ squeezed lemon in warm water in the morning- this stimulates liver and gallbladder function
Juicing-especially deep greens raw
Alternating hot and cold showers- start with hot/warm water 3 min, then switch to 1 min cold water repeat cycle several times. This improves circulation and helps the body heal.
Recipe for Dr.Triendlâ€™s Favorite Detox Juice
Raw Kale- half a bunch
Cilantro or Parsley- I cup
Celery 2 Stalks
Lemon- juice of 1/2 lemon
Ginger- raw 1/4cup
Juice all these ingredients together and Enjoy!
